Carabao Festival

The feast day of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of all farmers, is held on May 15 in the farming towns of San Isidro, Pulilan, and Angono.

Hundreds of carabao (water buffalo) will march to the church. Some will pull carts carrying farmers' families, an image of San Isidro, flowers, fruits and vegetables, or seeds and tools. Streets will be crowded with people laughing, pointing at the animals and talking about them. The carabao parade will end at the church. Some carabao are trained to crawl on their knees as they approach the church. Others kneel when they reach the church courtyard where a priest is ready to bless them and offer a prayer for a good harvest.
